How to Connect Your Dino-Lite Properly:

Many error codes can arise from improper connection of the Dino-Lite to your computer. Certain issues can be resolved quickly by first ensuring the device is connected correctly.

Always connect the Dino-Lite directly to an available USB port on your computer. Connecting via a USB extension cable, splitter, hub, or docking station may lead to low power and slow data speed issues, which can manifest as various error codes. The Dino-Lite requires a significant amount of power over the USB bus, so it is recommended that it does not share ports on the same USB bus with similar high-demand power or data devices such as printers, scanners, webcams, spinning disk drives, and solid state drives. It can typically share connections on the same USB bus with lower-demand devices like mice, keyboards, and flash drives.

Possible Causes:

The inability of your Dino-Lite to function and the corresponding error codes in Device Manager typically point to one of two main categories of issues:

Code 10: This error usually indicates a hardware-related problem with the USB connection. Potential causes include:

  • A damaged or malfunctioning USB port on the computer.
  • If the Code 10 error persists even when connected directly to different USB ports on the same or a different PC, it strongly suggests a hardware failure within the Dino-Lite itself.

Code 19, 28, 39, or 43: These errors generally indicate a problem with the Dino-Lite's driver installation or Windows security settings that might be interfering with the installation or loading of the device driver. This can be due to:

  • Drivers being blocked by Windows security features.
  • Issues with Core Isolation, Memory Integrity, or Driver Signature Enforcement settings on Windows.

Step-by-Step Solutions:

Follow these steps to attempt to resolve the issue based on the error code you are seeing:

If you are seeing Error Code 10:

  1. Try a different USB port: Disconnect the Dino-Lite and plug it into a different USB port directly on your computer.
  2. Test on another computer: If possible, connect the Dino-Lite to a different Windows PC to see if it is recognized and functions correctly.
  3. Check the USB cable: Ensure the USB cable connecting the Dino-Lite to your PC is securely attached at both ends and is not visibly damaged. Try a different USB cable if available.
  4. Hardware Failure: If the Code 10 error persists across different USB ports and even on a different computer, the Dino-Lite device likely has a hardware failure and may require repair or replacement.

If you are seeing Error Code 19, 28, 39, or 43:

  1. Manually Reinstall the Device Driver:

    • Open Device Manager. You can do this by searching for "Device Manager" in the Windows search bar.
    • Look for the Dino-Lite device in the list. It might be listed under "Imaging devices," "Other devices," or have a yellow exclamation mark next to it.
    • Right-click on the Dino-Lite device and select Uninstall device.
    • In the confirmation dialog, check the box that says "Delete the driver software for this device" if it is present.
    • Click Uninstall.
    • Restart your computer.
    • Go to the Dino-Lite Downloads page and download the Windows driver for your specific Dino-Lite model.
    • Once the download is complete, run the installer to manually install the driver.
    • After the driver installation, reconnect your Dino-Lite to the computer. Windows should now recognize and configure the device.
  2. Check Core Isolation and Memory Integrity:

    • Search for "Core isolation" in the Windows search bar and open the Core isolation settings.
    • Toggle the Memory integrity setting to Off.
    • Restart your computer.
    • Try installing or using the Dino-Lite again.

Important: We highly recommend not disabling the Memory integrity feature permanently, as it provides important security benefits for your system.

  1. Check Driver Signature Enforcement:

    • Open Settings and go to Update & Security.
    • Click on Recovery.
    • Under Advanced startup, click Restart now.
    • After your PC restarts to the "Choose an option" screen, go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings.
    • Click Restart.
    • After your PC restarts again, you will see a list of startup options. Press 7 or F7 to select Disable driver signature enforcement.
    • Windows will now start with driver signature enforcement disabled. Try installing or using your Dino-Lite.

Important: This is for troubleshooting purposes only. It is generally recommended to keep driver signature enforcement enabled for security reasons.

Expected Outcome:

After following the appropriate troubleshooting steps, your Windows PC should recognize the Dino-Lite device without any errors in the Device Manager, and you should be able to use the Dino-Lite software to view and capture images or videos.
